Go away, no stay— We can’t make up our minds!!
Don’t EVEN tell us this didn’t happen— you don’t hold the coveted position of “fly-on-the-WFLT-office-wall.”
Last Thursday, we’re all workin’ hard (conserving acres y’all) when someone knocks wicked loud on the office door. In walks the craziest Karen Ski Mom, we’d ever SEEN. It all went down like this:
Ski Mom: “You the Boss?”
WFLT: “I’m the General Manager.”
Ski Mom: “My son said he wanted to Nordic Ski this weekend, and your head groomer said it would happen for him.”
WFLT: “Sorry, we don’t have enough snow to groom right now, he must be mistaken.”
Ski Mom: “Well apparently they do over at Carters XC in Bethel.”
WFLT: “I find it hard to believe. May I ask where you heard this information?”
Ski Mom: “From YOUR head groomer, BVN*. Since you don’t have snow, he’s telling everyone where they CAN go skiing this weekend. Any organization that would put the skier first has got my Ullr & Skadi membership for life. From now on, I’m coming here for everything but toilet paper and bananas! And one more thing, you should give that BVN a raise!”
WFLT: Pshaw.
***The ski and snowshoe trailS at RFP are closed until we get more snow. The Warming Hut will not be open this weekend.*** But we do have a FREE guided snowshoe at Smith Bridge Preserve happening 1/5/25 12-2PM. Registration required.
Carter’s XC Snow Stake:
2-inches of loose granular over a 4-inch hard pack base.
Carter’s Trail Conditions:
Conditions are variable. Mostly loose granular and sugar snow covering a solid base. A few thin spots that are easily skiable.
Jesse’s* Take:
No sugar coating it. But it’s pretty darn sweet! Where it’s good it’s real good. Where it’s not…. “Oh, look… Bunny tracks”!
Trail Gossip:
For the record, the Daily Glide never promised to strictly send you ski deets from RFP. Ok, that’s a lie, it’s really the point of our existence. But at our hearts we just wanna get you out enjoying your skinny ski experience as much as possible this winter, even if it means sending you temporarily away.
(BTW, BVN doesn’t know we’re doing this!)
Glossary:
BVN: Head snow groomer at Roberts Farm Preserve and an all around Ullr on skis.
Jesse: OMG, he’s the Manager of Carter’s XC and will dance at the drop of a hat. Try us.
Gotta a burning desire to win something weird? You know where to look…

Weekend Contest!
Go ski at Carter’s XC, find Jesse, take a selfie with him, and get HIM to put it up on Instagram tagging WFLT. Give him your address and wait for your prize to arrive.
Nicely done. Fun read. I can almost understand everything.
Think I'll stay indoors reading a good book next to the woodstove.
