Boy have we been having some sweet communications with you this week. See what we did there?
High fives all around to Ullr & Skadi for the bountiful snowfall, BVN* and co. for the hella-nice grooming, and Lee for a surprise early opening of the warming hut! It was crazy-amazing?! Shame on you if you missed it, but there may be hope this morning.
Of course, we’ve been hanging around BVN for too long at this point - he told us we’ve got to get a grip on reality, A.K.A. the weather forecast. If you're reading this in the AM, things may look peachy, but dream on. Steven Tyler, summed up our love affair with the snow this week when he sang: “I was cryin’ when I met you, Now I’m tryin’ to forget you.” No worries, it’s still December, there’s more to come.
Depending on what happens to the snowpack this evening through New Year’s Day, we’ll hold off on daily, Daily Glide email updates and switch to a weekend trails report until ski conditions resume.
If you want to get some sliding and gliding in before the rain comes, go see Lee at the Warming Hut today, 10AM - 1PM before she splits.
Snow Stake:
0” over a 4” base.
Trail Conditions:
A much nicer morning than was forecast. Because of the thin base, we won't groom again until we get more snow. That being said, there is still some decent skiing to be had on the open trails. No track, of course.
Groomers Take:
“Enterprising skiers can squeeze one more run in before the expected rains arrive!” - BVN.
Glossary:
BVN: Head snow groomer at Roberts Farm Preserve, and an all around Ullr on skis.
***How many Aerosmith songs did we fit into today’s email? Count em’ up and email info@wfltmaine.org for bragging rights and some stickers.***
